What does a candidate do when the public isn’t too crazy about how you answer the questions people put forth? Well, you attack your opponent for connections to a “former terrorist.”
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday slammed Sen. Barack Obama’s political relationship with a former anti-war radical, accusing him of associating “with terrorists who targeted their own country.”
[...]Palin cited an article in Saturday’s New York Times about Obama’s relationship with Ayers, now 63. But that article concluded that “the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called ’somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.’ “
Several other publications, including the Washington Post, Time magazine, the Chicago Sun-Times, The New Yorker and The New Republic, have debunked the idea that Obama and Ayers had a close relationship.
Of course, this negates any time difference between what Bill Ayers did, and when Obama actually met Bill Ayers. So, much for the liberal New York Times that is supposedly carrying water for the Obama campaign.
It is Palin that is giving the people massive misinformation, while negating her running-mates own criminal behavior and terrorist connections.
The question folks should be asking themselves is what sort of influence did Bill Ayers have on Obama? It appears to be none. Hell, the conclusion has been the two are not even close, by any standard.
Let’s ask the same question of the McCain/Libby connection, and we find just the opposite, as Oliver Willis sums up.
Liddy called for the murder of federal agents, served time in jail, plotted murder – and after that, John McCain applauded him and took his money.
Read that again..McCain applauded Liddy for his terrorist tactic.
Of course, we can also say that Sarah should look closer to home, like her own husband’s associations, before making her outlandish mischaracterizations.

McCain the bomber. Of course when everyone respects McCain’s time as a prisoner no one asks how was he imprisoned. While many moral Americans were standing up and saying no to a criminal war this Navy brat was bombing innocent civilians because America felt it was threatened by this tiny backward country. McCain’s ambitions and aggression goes further than merely supporting Bush he is Bush squared, stupid and a gambler.
A very bright lady I know was telling me how ‘heroic’ it was that John McCain spent time at the Hanoi Hilton as a P.O.W. of the Vietnamese. I explained to her that in my mind there was nothing heroic about his bombing Vietnamese who to my knowledge had not attacked the USA, unles you believe the nonsense about the Gulf of Tonkin.
I offered that had I been a Vietnamese cadre I would have blasted McCain’s A-4 Skyhawk with my surface-to-air missile and stopped the killing of my countrymen.
Heroic?
Not on your life.
