So, CNN is saying that gas prices in Houston jumped a whopping 20 cents per gallon ahead of Hurricane Ike.
“There are clearly some service stations in the Houston area that have hiked prices by 15 to 20 cents a gallon, there’s no question about that,” said AAA spokesman Dan Ronan. “But I think there are a lot of service stations that are being very responsible.”
Well, have I got news for CNN — between last night and this morning, gas prices jumped 35 cents per gallon, to $3.99, and then by this afternoon another 50 cents per gallon ($4.49) for regular unleaded. As of this writing, that’s an 85 cent per gallon increase, and some reports say it could be as much as a $1.50 per gallon increase.
An 85 cent, and climbing, increase in a gallon of gas is, to me, clearly price gouging, in anticipation of gas disruption.
But, it is also clear that some areas in the country are getting more gas than others, when you take into consideration one of the terminals in Knoxville is out of gas. Gas may be available around the country, but apparently, that depends on your geography.

The rising gas prices are ridiculous.I will be riding my motorcycles to save some gas as the suv is not gas mileage friendly.I t seems that the money we make is getting vacuumed out of our wallets faster than we can make it.
