I was away from the computer most of yesterday, and by the time I did get to it, I did not have the energy to write. So, this morning I am playing catch-up on the Palin pick.
First, let me tell you, you wouldn’t believe the vehemence used by some conservatives on this mornings Washington Journal at picking Palin — not because of her ethics problems, and the ensuing investigation by the Alaska Legislature but because she is a woman. The supporters of the GOP are really letting their male privilege hang out.
Not that I would even consider a McCain/Palin ticket, mind you. Palin brings a slew of nose-holding stink to the forefront, things like hiring a a police chief that had a sexual harassment charge dogging him for the position of Public Safety Commissioner. While there is a huge problem with the hiring, the fact the dude only worked for two weeks, and then got a huge severance package for that two-week stint, I find her response that the harrasment charges were unbelievable, to be unbelievable.
…she claims that she thought the complaint had been unsubstantiated and was unaware of the letter of reprimand.
Puulllease. But, Troopergare is hardley over.
The Legislature is spending up to $100,000 “to investigate the circumstances and events surrounding the termination of former Public Safety Commissioner Monegan, and potential abuses of power and/or improper actions by members of the executive branch.”
The investigation is supposed to wrap up by Oct. 31.
Just in time for the November elections. Let’s be clear, the Alaska legislature is investigating Palin’s abuse of power, not whether her ex-brother-in-law broke the law as a state trooper. They are two seperate issues that overlap.
But, this investigation of abuse of power, is not going to be the only thing dogging Palin until November. The idea that Palin can sway former Hillary supporters to McStain, is beyond absurd. Palins its-all-about-male-dominance attitude towards women will cut that short, in a New York minute, as long as her lack of qualifications, lack of experience and anti-woman stances are put to the fore-front of the public sphere.
It’s about the issues!

Well, unfortunately it’s not absurd that Palin will pull in some of the Hillary Clinton voters….she will and she is. The message board that I am the administrator of has this very issue raging at the moment and there are plenty of members who will be voting McCain/Palin come November.
I intend to cast my vote for Cynthia McKinney.

The cop was an abuser so find out more about it not just what th male left has to say.
I am putting this on all the blogs I link to suggesting we do not have to be slaves to the places they push us.

Mountain Sage, I’ve been thinking long about this — why are these people that were supposedly going to vote for Hillary now voting for a McSame/Palin ticket? It cannot be about the issues, because HIllary stands for the exact opposite that Palin and MSame stand for. When I looked over Palin, she has nothing in common with Hillary, other than her gender.
Once again, I am torn between wanting to make a statement with my vote and not wanting a repeat of 2000. There are still plenty of dems that blame the dems that would not vote for a Gore/Lieberman ticket and went Green with a vote for Nader. At that time, there were plenty of reasons to go Green, besides the party picking towards the center, picking Washington insiders, corporatists that have permeated government, just as there is now. Nor am I delusional in thinking Obama would even begin to change what is wrong in Washington.
Greenconcousness, I know the cop was an abuser. But there are laws in place to deal with that, and while I despise abusers I abhor vigilantism, and a p iss-poor system as well.
Palin, while trying to get her ex brother in law out of his job, she hired a sexual harasser, knowing there was a complaint against him. How the hell do you reconcile that?
Palin has not pulled in any Clinton voters, only anti-Obama ones.
And those were already, well, not going to vote for Obama.
She is absolutely a net loss for him, since she gains him no new voters and actually hurts him with the conservative rank and file:

Those nutcases are the turn-out machine that gave us two Bushes and the Constract on America. And they aren’t behind Palin.
