Yesterday, the local paper published this drivel from Blue Bush Dog Dem, Heath Schuler, who apparently has no idea what the meaning of maturity is.
In surprisingly blunt language, U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler complained this week of “a lack of maturity” in the U.S. House.
The North Car-olina Democrat accused some of his fellow lawmakers of thinking they’re “Hollywood stars” and said many of them spend more time playing politics than doing what’s best for the country.
[...]“I was hoping that the two political parties would work together for America instead of (emphasizing) political differences,” he said. “But, in fact, what I keep seeing is this continuation of working for the political parties first and (for) power here in Washington.
The problem with this is, Schuler is involved with a group of democrats in name only. The Bush Dog Dems have done everything in their power to piss on the people, otherwise known as Americans, by blocking legislation American’s are behind, specifically regarding Iraq, FISA, and SCHIP.
This terrific analysis of how Bush Dogs have voted, but do not necessarily represent the views of their districts, leaves one wondering why these people bother staying in the democratic party. Pay close attention that Schuler’s votes put him solidly in the high Republican lean category.
My point is, Schuler is NOT, under any circumstances, a democrat, and has no business pointing his finger at the dems for not “playing nice” in the Senate. The fact of the matter is, the Bush Dog Dems have been republican, and especially, Bush, enablers — enablers for the economy to crumble starting with the housing crisis, for over unaccountable, blank-check spending in Iraq, denial of education for veterans, for children to be denied health care, and I could go on. In nearly every progressive legislation, the Bush Dog Dems have sided with republicans and blocked legislation that is good for Americans, and then the mmm (multi-millionaire media) blames the entire dem party. It’s beyond time of placing blame where blame is due.
But, I digress. This article isn’t about the Bush Dog dems enabling republicans. It’s supposed to be about maturity on the Floor. So, let’s take a look at the rest of the article, for good measure, and see who is being childish here.
Shuler said he also had been upset earlier in the week when he went to the House floor to speak about a resolution that he sponsored to recognize March 29 as Vietnam Veterans Day.
Shuler’s two young children were in Washington and were going to watch him discuss the legislation. But Republicans kept using the time to talk about the country’s fuel crisis, he said.
“Here my kids were unable to see me go on the floor and talk about our veterans and the importance of establishing a Vietnam Veterans Day to show them the honor that they so well deserve,” Shuler said.
“It’s kind of embarrassing,” he said.
What do you say to someone whinning about lack of maturity and then complains that his kids couldn’t watch him speak on the Floor of the House?
Pot. Kettle. Etc.

I disagree. I thought Shuler’s comments were an accurate view of Washington. I don’t think he slammed Repugs or Democrats as much as he said everybody was into power politics instead of doing what is good for the country.
And as for wanting his children to watch him, that’s a whole lot better than what I read today about $9,000 per congressperson for their FISA vote. It seems to me he had some honest motivation as a dad.
YMMV.
