Remember Haditha? The families of 24 Iraqis remember losing their mothers, grandmothers, children, and grandfathers by the guns of US Marines. And then there was the cover-up, or maybe we should call it a white-washing, so it will go down easier for you.
In response to the outraged families, amazingly, several charges, including murder, were leveled against the men involved in shooting down Iraqi civilians. If you recall, one of those murderous marines admitted shooting unarmed civilians in his suit against Rep. Murtha.
Since all the fallout of Haditha and the attempts to divert your attention, what has been happening is that one by one, the charges are being dismissed against the marines involved, for wantonly murdering Iraqi civilians.
Hours before his court-martial was set to begin, all charges were dismissed Friday against one of two remaining enlisted marines involved in a combat action that killed 24 Iraqis in Haditha in 2005, the Marine Corps announced.
With little public explanation, a Marine general in charge of the prosecution dropped the charges against Lance Cpl. Stephen B. Tatum, who was among four enlisted marines originally charged with murder in the case.
The charges against him had been reduced to involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault for what prosecutors said was his role in shooting a group of unarmed women and children.
Charges against Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich remain, for murdering 24 civilian Iraqis. And, charges against Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani for failing to properly investigating the Haditha incident remain.
How much do you want to bet the charges against these marines will be greatly reduced or dismissed?
