This weekend we are celebrating Blogroll Amnesty Day, which is on Feb. 3, but, well, Skippy and Jon want to give all bloggers plenty of time to participate. Bloggers and readers will note the nifty logo added on the sidebar.
today marks the three-day weekend celebration blog-burst of b.a.d., or blogroll amnesty day for short, and literally dozens of participating blogs will be participating.
each blog will celebrate the unity of progressive infrastructure amenability by posting links to a handful of smaller blogs, thus giving exposure to diverse voices thru-out blogtopia, and yes, we coined that phrase!
The archcrone participated on the original day (before we became the archcrone, though), with a true amnesty, and continues to have a liberal blogroll, even if I don’t always discuss it. Archcrone, has included the following paragraph on the “Contact” page (or put your link in comments), for any blogger that wants to participate in the liberal-link-exchange in the spirit of a true liberal blogroll.
Additionally, if you are a blogger participating in the continuing spirit of Blogroll Amnesty Day, drop me a note with your blog address and I will gladly add you to the blogroll.
As I contemplate the spirit of B.A.D., had the A-list lefties in blogtopia not behaved in the petulant childish manner they exhibited a year ago, we also wouldn’t be reading this clap-trap from Ron Klain this morning.
But notwithstanding this stunning success, this week’s withdrawal by John Edwards, coming a week after the departure of Dennis Kucinich, means that both of the preferred presidential candidates of the liberal blogosphere are now out of the race. Instead, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, the two candidates who have drawn some of the sharpest criticism on progressive blogs, are the only ones who will make it to Super Tuesday. A similar thing happened in 2004, when Howard Dean and Wes Clark, the two candidates most strongly backed by blogs, were beaten by John Kerry, who wasn’t a blog favorite.
The blogosphere has had impressive electoral success in Senate and House races, especially in 2006. But at the presidential level, while the blogosphere has been effective in changing the political debate and the party’s direction, it has been less successful in helping its preferred candidates to victory. Why?
One reason, IMHO, which Klain ignores, or can’t imagine, is that the A-list bloggers also support centrist and republican-lite DNC politics, rather than TRUE-BLUE liberal candidates, and that is also witnessed in their linkages to only other A-list, centrist or republican-lite, claptrap, bloggers, instead of the vastly diverse liberal voices of blogtopia (skippy)
Perhaps, as Blogroll Amnesty Day gains more and more traction, liberal blogtopia (skippy) will result in more successes in promoting liberal presidential candidates. Please join me and all the bloggers participating, in promoting Blogroll Amnesty Day, and if you are a blogger, I will be happy and proud to exchange links with you.
(PS. liberal link exchanges are in effect all year long.)

Hi, archcrone! I am VERY happy to be on your blogroll, but I just wanted to let you know that you’ve got me listed there twice, which is entirely TOO generous of you.
much love,
Kathy at Liberty Street
Kathy, thanks for catching that.
Since we already share blogroll links I’ll just thank you for getting into the spirit of building a better Blogtopia! (y!sctp) It is nice to see something that was a bit of a negative for some turning into a positive for everyone…
PS: I agree 100% with your opinion on why the left blogosphere is losing the presidential candidate fight. It may not be the only reason, but it is one of the big ones.
You’ve been added to our blogroll! The whole B.A.D. spirit is pretty awesome on its own, especially for new kids on the block who need help building their list. But we’re Hangin’ Tough (/bad joke).
