I stayed up late last night watching Dr. Zhivago on TCM last night. I know I shouldn’t have. I’m exhausted now, and I’m running late. But, TCM has been showing some great old movies during their 31 days of Oscar celebration.
So, do check out the bloggers on the left or whore your blog in comments.
Cheers!

Sprint Continues to Piss on Nextel Customers
Posted in Bizness, tagged customers, loss, poor service, Sprint/Nextel on February 28, 2008 | 5 Comments »
This report on Nextel is a little disingenuous on losing customers. I know. I’ve been a Nextel customer for years. While I’ve been a bit disgusted with Nextel’s coverage after Sprint took it over, I still have not switched service (although I have looked into switching several times).
Sprint Nextel Corp. swung to a [...]
Tax the Gas Man

The House passed an $18 billion dollar tax bill on the oil companies.
The money collected over 10 years would provide tax breaks for wind, solar and other alternative energy sources and for energy conservation. The legislation, approved 236-182, would cost the five largest oil companies an average of $1.8 billion a year over that period, [...]
The Bigotry of the TNGOP
Posted in 2008 Elections, Civil Rights, tagged racism, TNGOP on February 27, 2008 | 3 Comments »
Update below
Apparently the TNGOP never got the Karl Rove memo (via) not to denigrate Barack Obama.
Nope, they would rather heap national (soone to be?) attention on TN with their bigoted statements along with visuals of Obama dressed in tribal attire.
Putrid filth from the cesspool that is the modern Republican party.
Putrid filth is right. No different [...]

The Tennessee House has some representatives with some sense left in their brains. SJR0127, which has come up year after year and is an attempt to change the state constitution stating that no woman has the right to an abortion, has once again failed!
The measure sponsored by Rep. Dolores Gresham, a Somerville Republican, was voted [...]
The Dogma of Organized Religion

So, it appears that people are leaving the churches they were brought up in and moving to non-denominational churches.
The U.S. religious marketplace is extremely volatile, with nearly half of American adults leaving the faith tradition of their upbringing to either switch allegiances or abandon religious affiliation altogether, a new survey finds.
[...]“The American religious economy is [...]
The Nadar Run
Posted in 2008 Elections, tagged 2008 Elections, divisive politics, Ralph Nadar on February 25, 2008 | 3 Comments »
Well, Ralph Nadar has officially entered the presidential race, and not surprisingly, the “big” news is Clinton and Obama “ripping” Nadar’s decision.
“He thought that there was no difference between Al Gore and George Bush and, eight years later, I think people realize that Ralph did not know what he was talking about,” Sen. Barack Obama [...]

Huge congratulations go out to Josh Marshall for this write up in the NY Times.
Of the many landmarks along a journalist’s career, two are among those that stand out: winning an award and making the government back down. Last week, Joshua Micah Marshall achieved both.
On Tuesday, it was announced that he had won a George [...]
