Some days it just seems that so much is going on that you want to just crawl into a hole. Like today, with the Giant Obstructionist Party, otherwise known as the GOP. These asswipes have absolutely no conscious whatsoever, for if they did, they sure as hell wouldn’t have filibustered the Webb Amendment.
Legislation that would have required longer troop rests between combat deployments fell today to a Republican filibuster, but GOP fissures over President Bush’s war policies continued to widen, with two more Republican senators signing on to binding troop withdrawal dates.
Our troops are stretched thin, the military has lowered it standards,to god knows what, and these asswipes of the GOP want to keep sending your loved one to Iraq for what? So a few oil men will get rich? What the hell is so horrible about giving the folks that have been deployed 3, 4 and 5 times, like the dude I pointed to the other day, time to rest, the very thing dems were arguing.
Webb’s amendment touched off a passionate war of words before the vote, with Democrats arguing that troops desperately need a break while Republicans charged supporters were looking for a backdoor route to shut down the war.
Backdoor? Seems that some in the opportunist party know a bunch about backdooring (via Susie). Okay, that’s a different backdoor.
The really amazing thing about the opportunist party’s spin is that the Webb Amendment was never about ending the war in Iraq. It was always about responsible deployment. Actions speak louder than words, and the actions of the GOP screams hate the troops.

[...] Senate conservatives and failed to get the 60 votes needed (56-41) to move forward. So much for the GOP ’supporting the troops.’ More dire warnings from scientists on global warming. The wingnuts think it’s just a [...]
Love your name for the GOP(Giant Obstructionist Party). It certainly fits. They have proved absolutely that they care for no one but themselves and the corps. They care nothing for our troops, nothing for American citizens, unless they are wealthy, nothing for the aged, nothing for the Constitution, nothing for the Republic, nothing for the Iraq innocents, nothing world opinion or anyone in the world, except the wealthy. They are souless. Sigh.
