No More Dead Bloggers, will get your attention. This is particularly for the progressive bloggers that live hand to mouth, that know the debilitating effects of no health insurance and the humiliating dehumanization when applying for public assistance.
And so I am talking to lawyers about putting together a non-profit to help progressive bloggers. Not, as some groups offer, to help them organize for the Democratic party – to help them personally. I plan to recruit every blogger I can for the effort. One local blogger is working right now to put together a concert benefit with a big name.
We should at least have our paperwork filed by the end of the summer. And if you, the blog reader, wants to be part of it, great. Hold a bake sale, even – every little bit helps.
I know a lot of us aren’t all that thrilled with the Democrats right now. So, until we get this foundation set up, you can directly support the people who do keep standing up to the Republican regime – bloggers, the ones who aren’t making a living off this insane labor of love. Go hit those donation buttons!
then again, if we as a nation had true universal health care (not mandatory health care insurance coverage), some of what Susie is trying to establish wouldn’t be necessary.

For the “progressive bloggers that live hand to mouth”, I have a suggestion: go get a job. Do you know how many thousands — strike that, millions — of bloggers manage to blog on the side while still maintaining full-time employment elsewhere?
And guess what? A lot of those non-blogging full time gigs? They offer health insurance.
Just a suggestion.
You offer such a fucking non-solution. If you haven’t noticed, many employers are either no longer offering health care, or mostly passing on the rising the premiums to employees which are so high and the plans so basic as to not cover a god damn thing, that they are unaffordable to the employee. This doesn’t begin to cover those that are self-employed or work for small companies that do not offer insurance, and who cannot afford the ridiculously high premiums offered by the extortionist insurance companies.
Robbie, hey, have you ever done freelance and tried to get heath insurance as an individual? No? Didn’t think so, or you wouldn’t have said such a goofy thing. You might want to take a look at this at One Good Thing, if you think bloggers just need to get jobs. Sometimes they just need a little help for a little while. Sometimes fifty bucks can mean the difference between life and death. Sometimes a blogger just needs advice more than money and doesn’t know it. And the begathons don’t work with me; they just piss me off most of the time. I’d rather give money to a central organization. Otherwise, if I responded to every call, I’d be broke and begging. So it’s time to organize and Susie is the right person for it.
Jobs, money and healthcare aside, I, for one, am sick of seeing Kos and the other Republican bloggers get all the goodies and then piss on the rest of us.
I say, Go! Susie! Go!
(Oh, and the folks at OGT never said a word while all that mess was going on. I wish they had, I’d have tried to help.)
